OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM
Russell Covington, President
Russell Covington, now President of Beacon Maritime, worked
throughout college in shipyards and held various positions
in the operations of several construction companies (both
marine and industrial). He signed on at TDI-Halter (Texas
Drydock, Inc.) at the company's inception. While there, he
held various positions including Foreman, Project Superintendent,
Project Manager and finally Senior Project Manager. As leader
of the projects group, Russell successfully managed over $150
MM in revenue comprised of many projects. He had the unique
experience of being involved in the development of every department
of a company that began with seven employees and grew to approximately
3,600. In only thirteen years this company had annual revenues
exceeding $300 MM. In August of 1999, Russell resigned from
his position of Vice President of TDI-Halter to form Beacon
Maritime. He has enjoyed continued success building a company
capable of large marine construction and repair projects and
an excellent reputation.
Guy Covington, Vice President Sales
and Marketing
Guy Covington is responsible for Beacon Maritime's sales and
marketing efforts. Guy spent many years in sales and marketing
of offshore related products before joining the TDI marketing
group in 1994. In addition, he and a partner previously owned
and operated for 5 years a successful Houston based blasting
and painting company with over $5 MM in revenue. After two
years in sales at TDI, he transferred to Port Arthur as project
manager for three semi-submersible conversions with a total
of over 1.5 million man-hours. After project manager, he was
responsible for starting a new department called Project Development
that included the company's estimating, planning and scheduling,
and production control departments. This background provided
a unique perspective for dealing with the myriad of clients
upon his joining Beacon Maritime in 2000.
Elizabeth Jackson, Vice President
Finance & Administration
Elizabeth leads Beacon’s financial and administrative
teams. She is also responsible for our HSE, HR departments
and for managing risk. Elizabeth is a Certified Public Accountant,
licensed in Texas and Louisiana.
John Scales, Operations Manager
John Scales holds the position of Operations Manager of Beacon's
Shipbuilding Repair Division. With a Technical Sales background
John welcomed the opportunity to join TDI as an assistant
project manager in 1997. After years of a very “hands-on”
approach to project management, both at TDI and Beacon Maritime,
John proved to have a strong aptitude for the construction
process itself. His leadership in the field and ability to
work with foremen, leadmen and to liaison with engineering
and management made him the ideal candidate for this important
role at Beacon Maritime.
Mike Dolan, Operations Manager
Mike Dolan joined Beacon Maritime as Operations Manager of
the Service and Repair Division many years after his apprenticeship
and training working for Ingalls Shipbuilding. Mike spent
10 years at Levingston Shipbuilding working as a ship-fitter,
burner, layout lead-man and supervisor in repair and new construction
of ships, barges and drill rigs. This experience made him
the ideal candidate to be the second employee hired for the
newly formed Texas Drydock in 1986. Mike was instrumental
in the success and expansion of TDI and planned and managed
numerous projects locally and abroad. Manpower on these projects
frequently exceeded 400. Mike joined Beacon near its inception
to continue his challenging and rewarding career.
